The second season of Athletes Unlimited basketball is nearly here, and, after a successful inaugural year, fans of the league should be excited about what is to come during the 2023 five-week season.

The league will feature 44 players (many of whom are also prepping for the WNBA season that starts in May) who are drafted to one of four teams each week, creating an exciting, ever-changing environment in which fans can root for their favorites players just as much certain teams. The league has a unique scoring system—individuals players lose or win points during each game, too—that means athletes can play to win MVP titles and cash bonuses in addition to games. At the end of each week, the top four players become captains and lead the drafting for the next stretch of games.

Last season, the champion was the Mystics’ Tianna Hawkins, who took the top spot on the the leaderboard in Week 3 and never let go. Her Washington teammate Natasha Cloud (who is one of the headliners of the league, as she advocated for the addition of women’s basketball to AU) finished second, and Isabelle Harrison was third. Harrison was also the Defensive Player of the Year.

Athletes Unlimited has partnered with CBS Sports Network—which can be streamed live with fuboTV—and Bally Sports Regional Sports Network to air games. Five games will be broadcast on CBS Sports, with an additional selection on Bally Sports RSNs.
